What is a Real Gift?

Barnardo’s Real Gifts are ethical gifts you can buy for a friend, a relative or a loved one. The money you spend on a gift goes directly towards supporting the vital work Barnardo’s carries out with vulnerable children and young people. The gifts displayed show a number of thoughtful ways in which your generosity can make a real difference. Simply choose a gift, add a personalised message and we’ll send your recipient a special thank you from one of the thousands of children we are able to help.

What gifts can I buy?

There are a variety of gifts to choose from, starting from as little as £10. Whether it’s an adventure day out for a young carer or a night light to help a child who has been a victim of domestic violence sleep peacefully, your gift really will help make a difference. Where does the money go?

All our gifts are divided into the different areas Barnardo’s works with, whether it be disability, or young carers. The money you spend on a Barnardo’s Real Gift will go directly towards funding that specific area of our work, where the need is greatest. So no matter which fantastic gift you choose, you really will be making a real difference.

Can I order by telephone?

If you are unable to pay online or are having difficulties you can call our dedicated customer support number on 0845 094 3020. One of our friendly representatives will then help you complete your purchase. Please note that a standard BT Local Call from any UK landline and will cost 2p per minute daytime and 0.5p per minute evenings and weekend. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

What is Gift Aid?

Thanks to the Government's Gift Aid scheme, Barnardo's can reclaim the tax you pay on all your donations - including your Real Gift - increasing their value by almost a third at no extra cost to you. To make your Real Gift go even further please tick the Gift Aid box when you are filling out your details.

What does the recipient receive?

Your recipient will be sent a bespoke gift card detailing the gift you have made in their name, your own personalised message to them as well as a special thank you fridge magnet from one of the thousands of children we are able to help.

How does the recipient receive their gift card?

You can select whether you wish the gift card to be delivered directly to the recipient’s address, or whether you would like it sent to yourself so you can hand the gift to the recipient in person.

Can I write my own message?

When prompted in the order process, you can personalise the card by typing your own special message in the box indicated, this will then be printed on the inside of the gift card. Alternatively you can choose to have the gift card sent to you blank so you can hand write your message instead.
